What a day
Well let me begin by saying that last weeks weather here in the Dallas Fort Worth area was not normal. We had freezing rain that happened over night on Monday into Tuesday. Woke up to no work Tuesday. On Wednesday it had melted some and I had a pretty important doctors appt. to make so my mom drove us to the doctor (20 something miles away in downtown Dallas). You see my doctor was having heart surgery the following Friday and I wouldn't see him until the beginning of March so I really wanted to see him. We figured if we could get to him we could go to work that day because we work only five minutes from his office. I got to see my Dr.and the babies are looking mighty fine! Both weighing around 1800 grams. We left there in great spirits. Mom decided we should leave around 3 that day so that we could miss the afternoon traffic and deal with the ice without so many people on the road, so we left work. Oh not to mention we were taking three other people to the bus stop in Mesquite. So there we are driving along and this lady in front of us hits a patch of ice decides to brake and start fish tailing. Instead of my mom doing the same she slowed down as much as possible we all braced ourselves for the impact. We hit the lady because my mom couldn't swerve to miss her. Luckily we were only going about 15mph. Even though we hit her at such a slow speed the impact started contractions. The ambulance showed up and took my blood pressure, it was 148/87 which is pretty darn high for me! They decided it would be best to take me to the hospital. I sat there in the ER and after 3.5 hours I had had one sonogram to tell me that Lexi and Noah were doing just fine. I sure thought I was going home at that point. Yeah not the case, a lady walks in and tells us that I need to go to labor and delivery because my contractions still haven't stopped. At this point I am freaking out because I feel like something bad is happening. I did not want to delivery at 32 weeks nor did I want to deliver at a hospital that I was not comfortable with. I get up there and the stupid nurse seemed like she had no clue about what she was doing. After asking me tons of questions I ask her if my mom and Meleah could return to the room, she say yes and walks out of the room. She walks back in about 2 minutes later and says she needs to check for dilation. No big deal right, um WRONG. That lady hurt me. She said my cervix was high and she kept pressing. She is done now and tells me I am dilated to a 1 and I was 50% effaced!!! THIS SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME! My doctor has never made me feel like that down there and never told me I was anywhere near what she was saying. So again I start freaking out, she leaves and my mom walks in. About 30 minutes later the nurse comes back in to tell me she spoke to the on call doctor at my hospital and he wants me transferred for more observation and plus they have a better care center there for my babies if they were to arrive. Ok, I am laying there thinking omg here it is icy outside, we just had a wreck and now I have to get back into an ambulance to go to Dallas. I was so scared all I kept thinking is Lord please don't let my babies come tonight, please let my mom and I make it back out there alive without any accidents. Well we all arrived at Baylor around midnight. The nurses and staff there were so much more in tune I can't even tell you how this made me feel. I went to the restroom when I first got there to find out I was bleeding. I told the nurse and told her how the other nurse checked me, she said that lady was very aggressive and should have never checked me considering I was carrying twins and I was 32 weeks pregnant. GRRR I already didn't like that lady and now this nurse is telling me this. I will never go back to that hospital again in Sunnyvale...I was hooked up to the monitors and tried to get some sleep. HAHA that didn't happen until about 3 am. The nurse came in to reposition the monitors because my little angels are wiggle worms (she had to come in every hour or so) and she asked me why I couldn't sleep. I told her my legs were very restless, they were driving me crazy. She asked if I wanted something to help me sleep, I told her as long as it didn't hurt the babies to bring it on. She gave me an Ambien. Wow that was the best 3 hours of sleep I had in a long time. Mom said she came in at one point to adjust the monitors and I snored right through it all!!!! I was released around 11:00 or 11:30 the next morning after some blood was taken and came back ok. My contractions had stopped and all was well. I was very relieved!!! So mom and I headed home lol we took the back roads home so no highway driving for us. We made it home and didn't leave the house again until Saturday!!! Yes it snowed that night, 6" or so. And guess what it is supposed to start again tonight and tomorrow morning. Guess who won't be heading out in the morning!
