I have to put this out there for others to read. I was getting extremely concerned about the back Noah’s head. From the time he was born it seemed to have a more flattened shape to it. This worried me because I did not want him to have to wear a helmet. Not because they were bad or anything but mainly because I felt like if he had to, it would have been my fault because it was something that could be prevented. When both babies got sick I had to take them to see the Dr. at this point I was going to ask her what she thought about it. Not only did it seem to me his head was pretty flat his little soft spot was much smaller than Lexi’s. She said his soft spot was small but because she was able to fit a finger on it and it was still soft she wasn’t that worried, we would just keep an eye on it. As for the back of his head she said it was definitely getting flat and it was time to start working with it. So basically no more back sleeping (I am totally ok with this!), less time in the swing and bouncer. I immediately got home and started looking up pillows for prevention or correction. Most were sold overseas and I wanted something fast. After doing a few searches we found out that Babies R Us sold a pillow made by Boppy. It was called Boppy Noggin Nest. Over the weekend we purchased it and started using it immediately. It has been a week almost now and I can see a major difference. Noah really didn’t have much of a neck and the back of his head was flat. Now his head seems to be rounding and he has a little neck!!! It amazes me how fast it worked. When I say this I mean it, we noticed a difference after just two days. Noah’s Dr. said their little skulls are very soft and can be manipulated easily but man I didn’t realize having that pillow would help it that fast. She also said if you don't correct the issue the child's ears would become displaced as well as their neck muscles wouldn't work properly. Noah uses his pillow at school, in the crib, in the swing and in the bouncer. At home he uses it in the swing and bouncer. I have been trying to give him extra tummy time so the swing is used less often now. We have a large inside dog so floor time just doesn’t happen. We do put him on the over-sized chair for tummy time, he seems to really enjoy it these days. I highly recommend getting a Boppy Noggin Nest if you are at all concerned with your child’s head becoming flat. These days babies seem to be placed on their backs a lot more than before, all their entertainment items are flat and hard for the most part for this age. When purchasing this item not only does it support their little heads, helps keep the shape rounded, it gives comfort as well. I absolutely love that we bought this for him…Lexi is getting one soon, she doesn’t have a misshaped head but we want to prevent it from ever happening!!! Below is a picture of the Bobby Noggin Nest. I think they only come in this color and they are machine washable. I love love love it!!!
